I originally bought these to follow the temperament and quirks in a litter of foster kittens which were almost all mackerel. It helped a lot to tell them apart! When the kittens were done with them (they got new collars when they were adopted) our daughter used them for her stuffed animals :] They were quite different sizes. We've had them in cats aged 2 months to 2 years. Neither of them were stocky/fat, but one was a very large cat and she suited him perfectly. The adoptees were kittens so a light clip was great for them to fool around and not worry about holding onto anything. The cats we keep on collars are tame stray cats that we tamed from TNR, so we used them to distinguish between friendly and not-so-friendly, especially so the neighborhood kids know who they're petting and who to leave alone. Lightweight clips were also helpful for them so we didn't have to haggle to put them on and it minimized the risk of them snagging on things while living on the road.
