I used a similar Thermalon product, and thought that I was buying the identical product, but the other product (which I left in a hotel microwave!) was heftier, and held heat for a longer period of time. I do not know if this unit is a replacement of the other one, or if Thermalon makes different sizes. It is so close in size and function to my first product that I have to believe it is a replacement. If it is, it is a disappointment, and I will not purchase it again. If it is not, then I am comparing apples to oranges, and my review is meaningless. Nevertheless, I obviously believed in the first Thermalon product I purchased, as I ordered two of these (in case I lose another one in a foreign microwave). I do not wish to take the time to return it and try to find the larger size elsewhere, so I will simply have to reheat it more often in the microwave. WARNING! These can hold a lot of heat without appearing burned, so it is quite easy to cause injury to yourself if you do not learn the proper heat settings (incremental increases in power until the desired result is reached). Also, position in the microwave, the manner of laying it out to be zapped, and other factors seem to lead to inconsistent heat from use to use. If I zap it for 1:30, it can be just right or way too hot. Too many zaps will "dry" it out, and you lose the moist heat aspect of it. i have a 40" waist (maybe 40.2" waist), and it easily wraps around my girth and I can easily tie it in place over my lower back. it is an incredibly convenient design, although i would prefer the same length with Velcro attachments. However, Velcro has its own problems, catching things you don't want to destroy, like a nice sweater. So, this may be the best possible application. it is a Godsend for those of us who need moist heat relief for back pain.
