Review on ๐Ÿ“บ VSDISPLAY 12.3-Inch Stretched Portable Display - 1920x720 Resolution (Model: VS123ZJ01A K002941) by Craig Conroy

Strange monitor with some flaws, but not much competition

The VGA input cannot display the native resolution of this monitor, at least not with Windows 11 and AMD graphics drivers. The native resolution of 1920x720 can be set via HDMI, but only at 59 Hz. On Linux, although I haven't tried it, it may be possible to force this with xrandr like this: xrandr --newmode "1920x720_59. 00" 110.00 1920 2016 2208 2496 720 723 733 748 -hsync +vsyncxrandr --addmode VGA-1 " 1920x720_59.00"xrandr --output VGA-1 --mode "1920x720_59.00"The viewing angle of this monitor is not impressive. I think there is probably no viewing angle without a visible gradient. It doesn't really matter, it's not that bad and fits my use case. Otherwise, the colors are bright and crisp. My device arrived with some dust on the screen, or maybe it's just dead pixels. But they're also not very noticeable unless you're looking at a solid color. In addition, the number of pixels per inch is quite high, which will be difficult to read in combination with other monitors. Windows 11 cannot scale the UI of this monitor, although it can scale all my other monitors. There is no smaller resolution with the same aspect ratio to switch to to solve this potential problem. This should be decided by the specific software you are showing if interface scaling makes a difference. For attachment I use a clip on a gooseneck designed to hold a tablet, which works great. The two holes on the back are M4 threads, standard for mounting small TVs. I haven't tried the USB input but it looks like it can display an image, play audio files or even some kind of video file without any other input. Overall I have to say that this monitor is arguably the best in its class as there aren't many competitors for a monitor with such an unusual resolution.
