I got these because I needed new salt and pepper shakers for my table. The reason I chose them is because the construction is moisture free. I used to have problems with salt lumps in the salt shaker. They definitely help with this problem. In fact, I might order a few more for other spices that tend to stick together when wet. My only complaint is that the spring is very tight and takes a little getting used to opening, but I'm sure it will get easier with time. Time.
