Review on πŸ”„ Brother BU-100CL Belt Unit: The Perfect Replacement for HL-4040CN and HL-4070CDW Series - Retail Packaging by Stephen Cooper

Revainrating 5 out of 5

At some point they will have to be replaced. Look for loss of elasticity along the inner (outer) edge of the belt. He hardens.

We needed a new belt unit so I bought 2 in case they get old. How do you know if your seat belt is broken? I can't find a good answer anywhere. Brother makes the counter easy to keep track of and notify you when the magic number is reached. I always just reset the counter and keep using it. I don't think this will affect print quality, but I've found that the belt tends to "slack" but it still works. Eventually, however, I noticed a sticky fragment somewhere in the machine. I checked the belt assembly and found that there are tabs of this sticky material attached to the underside (on each side, left and right). Mine hardened and was ready to shatter into segments which I was lucky enough to see one. That's when I realized it was time to cheat the system and pay the bills.
