A Stylish Way to Go Green

I thought about getting my own cutlery and crockery set for several years and finally pulled the trigger when my employer opened a new campus with a cafeteria. I quickly started wasting plastic cutlery and just didn't feel quite a grown up when eating. I took a closer look and found this set, which is missing only one thing often found in other sets: chopsticks. I find metal and plastic chopsticks more difficult to use anyway. What many sets lack are a few fancy amenities. First, there are two screw-top condiment/condiment jars with removable shaker inserts. Salt and pepper, of course, but you can add any dry or wet condiments or condiments to sprinkle on the food: red pepper flakes, shredded cheese, hot sauce. rim and plastic sheath. The stainless steel in this set has a black finish (except for the collapsible straw) for a classy look. That stylish feel continues in a plaid canvas case with an easy-to-clean interior. In general, the set is easy to clean. However, I have concerns about the folding straw. The straw comes in a stainless steel case and includes a foldable cleaning brush: handy to take with you to keep plastic straws from ending up in landfill, even if you're eating at a restaurant with matching utensils. My cleaning issue concerns the design of the straw's overlapping metals, which still leave water (and possibly other materials) in those gaps and can lead to bacterial build-up if not thoroughly cleaned and dried. Overall this is a great set for use at work, dining out, picnics and camping or anywhere you want clean, durable and reusable tableware.
