I got these moving box liner bags. A bag fits in a medium sized box with just enough extra height to tie a knot at the top, and you can use it in larger boxes if you're stacking two bags in a box or if you get creative and close the lid. very thick and strong, MUCH thicker than a normal garbage bag. The only problem is that they are all held together on a roll and due to the thickness of the plastic it takes some force to tear them apart.
