Not suitable for accessories and consumables

I was planning to use this adapter to be able to connect a microphone to my Nikon DSLR which does not have an additional connector. When I plugged it in to check how a clip recorded with and without the mic connected sounded the same. I've checked that all cables are securely and fully connected, but still no luck. The product does not work.
