Great Bars! on protein bars

I eat a lot of protein bars. Check out my review history and you will find at least 10 different brands. Either way, I'm looking for the same core qualities: A) Solid macronutrient profile; B) limited amount of artificial ingredients, especially sweeteners; c) Great taste. Rarely have I found the perfect bar, but these Mexican Mulberry Candy Bars come very close. In terms of nutrient profile, these bars provide 17g of protein for 240 calories. Although the calories are higher compared to some of my regular bars like SimplyProtein Whey (16g/160g), the ratio is still very decent compared to many other bars on the market and I get enough calories from these bars. Bars so you won't get hungry in an hour. These bars also contain some fiber (unfortunately not as much as some of the competing bars that I like). Note that they also contain carbs, which I'm not personally concerned about, but worth mentioning. In terms of ingredients, these things are great. Nothing remotely artificial, no weird sweeteners. There really isn't much to say here. Finally, all the important food experiences. Texturally it is a compressed mass but very slightly dry. However, they are not rigid. Mostly tough, very gentle, bordering on crumbly, but never hard-hitting. There are no complaints. The wrapper promises crispiness, but unfortunately I didn't notice it. These bars have a very pleasant taste. Aroma of cocoa, some cinnamon. As you eat, you'll notice a bright (but balanced) acidity from the mulberry tree, a little more cocoa flavor and, after a while, a slightly unexpected spiciness from the inclusion of the cayenne pepper. Really nice touch. In general there is no sweetness, which I consider a big plus. Too many bars mistakenly for sugary sugar bombs (or worse, stevia bombs), so it's nice to find a bar that's sweet enough. All in all delicious bars with sufficient nutrients, a decent meal replacement. If you're looking for pure protein, these bars are definitely worth trying. UPDATE: The above review is for Mexican chocolate only. I just tried White Chocolate Goldenberry and unfortunately I can't write a separate review here. I also don't recommend this flavor as much as Mexican chocolate. The big downside of White Chocolate Goldenberry is that it has no idea about white chocolate. It actually tastes pretty good (it even lacks the promised creaminess or texture of white chocolate or whatever white chocolate) but it's packed with crunchy seeds and that becomes the dominant part of the experience. I'm not a fan. 3* for that.

Pros
  • When? Ideal for breakfast, lunch, before/after training or as a snack on the go. This is a bar you'll want to enjoy on its own, in a smoothie bowl, or as an addition to your morning oatmeal.
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
