If you look closely at my uploaded photos you will see that I use it to protect my carpet. We saved scratches for our new cat to try and open the door to get into my son's room. He started destroying the carpet. Thought I'd give this a try after my wife thought of it as we've used it successfully without furniture in the past. After stepping on it a few times, the glue sticks to the carpet quite well. It completely covers the space up to the entrance to my son's room and also the other side in case he is in my son's room and wants to get out. It worked great. If you have a cat doing the same thing and scratching your carpet, this is a very good solution and works great. very satisfied and to be recommended. A very cheap solution to this problem!
