Review on Wi-Fi router ASUS RT-AC88U, black/red by Amit Kumar ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A practical product, nothing to complain about.

Firmware ate does not destroy 5GHz. It turns out that the older version of the firmware had channel 140 set as the default (132, 136, and 140 all operate pretty well, but have width constraints), while the newer versions use channel 100 as the default for all of my devices (phone, xbox one - so same as all channels in the range 100-116). Installation by hand is helpful up until the point where Smart Connect is activated (there is only Auto - channel 100: D). The most recent firmware does not include channels 116 or higher in any capacity. I had to figure it out on my own because the assistance is so idiotic. It is not always possible to start USB3.0 properly since it generates I/O faults. But now approximately 40 MB/s is being received by samba (compared to approximately 30 MB/s being received by usb2.0 on it, crypted VE400 from hitachi 1 TB). The Torrento-rocking chair, also known as Download Master, uses all 100 Mbps without hesitation. The New Download Master (client for PC) is broken and does not function properly. The 5GHz frequency's range is questionable (IMHO, N66U punched a little further). Do not forget that providing only 8 LAN connections is not exactly being fair. While connecting with other devices on WAN/1-4, ports 5-8 will each have a restriction of one gigabit, for a total of one gigabit. When making plans, it's important to remember this.

Pros
  • Nimble. My current goal is to have a connection speed of at least 100 Mbps from my provider.
Cons
  • The curvature of the hardware. WTFast is completely pointless because it only works with a limited number of games; for example, in CS:GO, I did not see any change. It would be more beneficial to have some type of fast VPN thread somewhere that connects to the states of Europe, without any kind of limit or dumb blocking:)
