One of the best cheap Ultrabays I've seen

Much better than the previous HDD Caddy Ultrabay I bought. I really should have just spent the extra $6 and gotten this one from the start. I like that it comes with rubber feet. It's negligible and they're certainly cheap, but I can't express how happy I am that I don't feel my W520 vibrating when I'm watching videos from my drive, unlike another caddy I'm modifying had to stop the vibrations. This bay still has more ejection resistance than the DVD drive that came with the unit, but honestly it's still light enough that I can easily remove my drive if I ever need to connect a DVD drive or just want to replace discs. I had more problems opening the child lock. I have 2 negative comments on this although they are very minor and not enough to deduct a star. Starter: On my W520 it is not flush when fully seated. - It's VERY close though. Can I tell you about the thickness of the nail? I mean we're talking <1mm. - I personally think that's fine, but I know some people will be upset about it. The second minor annoyance is the color of the activity indicator. Blue. I would have preferred it to be green to match the other LED lights on the Thinkpad and I would have liked the LED brightness to be a bit lower. - Though it might just be the blue color. I'm pretty sure I could easily change that myself.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • Doubt
