Review on πŸ–‹οΈ Speedball Elegant Writer Calligraphy Marker Set, Black, 2.0 mm, 2.5 mm & 3.0 mm by Amber Perez

Left handed and learner friendly

I would recommend these pens to anyone who wants to learn or needs to finish a project but they are not intended for a long term hobby. For the price paid - less than $8 - it was a "fair" buy. You will receive four markers - two with a 2.0mm nib, one each with a 2.5mm nib and one 3.0mm nib. You write beautifully, especially if you have calligraphy experience. For beginners, they're a great tool for learning the basic strokes, lettering, and artistic pace (writing with creative skill) of the calligraphic writing style. My only disappointment, however, was half-expected. they don't last very long if you write a lot. Both my 2.0 and 2.5 grips are almost empty. Each I can write 2-3 letters before it starts skipping and forming faded lines. If I put a cap on and let it rest, I get 2-3 more letters. Do you understand me? In all, I wrote about 45 pages of letter exercises and short phrases. So that's about 15 pages per pen. I only bought them for study and practice so they did the job. I want to continue making art and will buy a traditional pen and ink. Pen 2.0 is good enough for writing, but keep in mind that the letters get bigger, which takes up more space. (Remember font size 30). 2.5 and 3.0 exacerbate this (font size 48-60 I think). In general, a 2.0 peak is considered broad. I would prefer a medium 1.3 and a fine 0.8 nib to write closer to the normal 10-20 point size. I have an added complication of being left-handed, so writing calligraphy style is different in that you press the pen. forward to the right side of the page while the right-hander pulls it along. The calligraphy pen has a flat edge, so I had to turn the paper sideways to write to get the thickness and delicacy of the lines on the page just right. If you are left handed you will understand what I mean and if you are right handed I hope you will understand. I raised this issue because I was concerned that I would not be able to write properly with these markers and I hope to help those who feel the same way. You can do it, just rotate the paper and experiment until you find the right angle. Have fun writing!
