I bought this toy for my 18 month old daughter (she was only 15 months at the time) for Christmas. That was definitely the hit of the morning! At first she didn't quite understand how to hit the balls with a hammer, but after a couple of weeks she got used to it. For a while, however, she used her hands to push the balls in. It's always the first toy that hits the shelf and every member of my family has had to hit those little balls, including my six year old, my four year old and yes, even us parents. He's a real help in teaching her fine motor skills and causality. My only issue with the toy is that while the toy is made of very durable wood, the bottom part that lies inside to catch balls is a fragile piece of chipboard, which I don't think would pose a problem. Somehow one of my kids broke the board and now the balls won't roll by themselves which is a bit frustrating for my youngest. However, since she loves this toy SO much we will be buying another one knowing it's worth the money just for the fun! Great product, just a thin bottom.
