Review on Continental PremiumContact 6 215/55 R17 94V summer by Wiktor Wiater ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nice price, good quality.

Prior to then, there were multiple versions of PremiumContact (both 2 and 5) running on a variety of machines, and there were never any negative emotions. Winter VikingContact 7 and TS860 are also in perfect working order. However, the sixth-year contact does not live up to the standards set. 215/65 16 on xc70. After two seasons and almost forty thousand miles, the wear is almost reaching the indicators (one-and-a-half to two millimeters further than TWI). Wear to the aquaplaning indicator, which is represented by a drop of water on the sidewall and is present on two of the wheels. Additionally, the wear is consistent on both the front axle and the back axle of the vehicle. Whether it is all-wheel drive (although it is not permanent), the highway run at a high speed, or the car being largely full of passengers and their belongings, it is possible for the vehicle to become unstable. There are no concerns to be made regarding the first season. On the second one, they started to make more noise, they were balanced poorer, and vibration started to show at high speed (balancing them did not help, but it went away after changing shoes for a set that was more appropriate for the winter). Regarding the handling, there are no complaints to be found. They have excellent braking and acceleration. A good amount of traction can be found in the transverse direction. In spite of the high profile and the soft sidewall, the word "Volkost" is not overly pronounced. As many others have already mentioned, this is an excellent rubber on excellent roads. When traveling on uneven roads, the ride is rougher and noisier than you would anticipate. The fact that the grip characteristics are so good makes it impossible for me to consider wear and tear to be a flaw in the product.

Pros
  • Grip on the road in both dry and wet conditions.
Cons
  • Noisier than you'd want. Takes bumps with more force than you'd think it to. Because of the soft sidewall and the convex shape, there is a greater potential for damage (and it hurts me). Extremely susceptible to rut.
