Review on BTECH AMP-U25D Amplifier: Boost Your Handheld Radio Performance with DMR Support, UHF Frequency Range, and Multiple Compatible Brands by Sam Pullen

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good quality, high performance, quiet speaker

Bought to work with my Baofeng F8HP 8w portable. Since the input for the radio only specifies 2-6W, I tested with both the 1W input and the 8W input (the only two modes the radio supports) and it works fine with both . Not sure if it puts out a different output as I don't have a meter to check. Setup is super easy - the included handheld mic sounds fantastic with it. The setup I used was an SMA to SMA reverse adapter in my radio, an SMA cable to an input on the amplifier. I then ran a control wire from the amp to the radio, hooked up a handheld mic to the amp and used it for PTT. Sounds good! The only two downsides to this unit are the amount of extra cables you need if you want to use an external mic (which I'm not criticizing, it's a simple design, it just gets unwieldy next to a standard mic). mobile) and the fact that the speaker works from below, which makes it very quiet in my car. There is no line output for connecting to a separate speaker. If that were the case, I believe this product deserves all 5 stars.
