Ideal for mobile use

Ideal for mobile use with HT unit. Just pay attention to how you intend to use the amp - read the instructions. I can make simplex calls where I would normally have to use a repeater. Can't wait for the UHF version!

Pros
  • One-year trial version
Cons
  • Repair

Turned my HT into a good mobile device

I've had this Linear for about two months now and I recommend it. Use it with TYT UV-F9 TYT TH-UVF9 220/2m (200-260 and 136-174MHz) HT dual band ham radio by connecting the HT antenna connector to the input of the amplifier. Be sure to check the SWR of your antenna *with the HT* before turning on the linear amplifier. I've found that the extra power allows the HT to be used as a cellular phone (with an external antenna) in harsher environments than the HT alone. The "T" connector on the power…

None close to advertised capacity.

Review updated 10/04/19 Okay, today we tested the replacement amp. And it put out 37 watts connected to a UV-5R radio. Now this is acceptable compared to the first. You should check these walkie talkies and amos when you get them. This year I had 4 units of different models and they were all bad. Two BF-8HPs, one of those Amos and one of the 50x2 Handys. Original review: What a piece of junk. I hooked up a UV-5R which puts out just under 4W and an SWR of 1.1 at the output of the amp, I only…

High quality ham radio booster for HT etc

Works great when connected to one of my several HT's (Baofeng, AnyTone etc). Haven't used it for DMR yet but for analog with 6W -8W input I'm getting 40W-60W with the VHF model and a good 40W UHF (I have both) giving me over 25+ rural mountain miles to remote repeaters and meeting others with 50+ watt cell phones etc. I had a faulty unit which I didn't realize was stuck in shift mode so didn't receive well but when I found it I emailed Revain and received a replacement 2 days later. The only…

Pros
  • Free for educational use

Good quality, high performance, quiet speaker

Bought to work with my Baofeng F8HP 8w portable. Since the input for the radio only specifies 2-6W, I tested with both the 1W input and the 8W input (the only two modes the radio supports) and it works fine with both . Not sure if it puts out a different output as I don't have a meter to check. Setup is super easy - the included handheld mic sounds fantastic with it. The setup I used was an SMA to SMA reverse adapter in my radio, an SMA cable to an input on the amplifier. I then ran a control…
