I used Bernina from the 1980's to the mid 90's when I moved from the US and parted with it due to the incompatibility of electrical plugs abroad. I regretted it 4 years later when I came back and kept looking for replacements at a cheaper price and was a bit dissatisfied with the brothers or the singers. Then I got zero percent financing to try out this Janome and wow it really feels like a whole different level of sewing than the Brother and Singer brands. It reminds me of my Bernina from 30 years ago, who could sew silk without touching me. This Janome could probably do that too, but it can also do extremely heavy sewing - which I do more now - like quilting from 3 to 6 layers! The walking foot is great, and I love that the presser foot lifter has two positions: raised just enough to glide across fabric and doubled up to move multiple layers with the walking foot. Working on this Janome is a dream. My only regret is that I couldn't keep the Babylock Aria, which was the same price but not as easy to finance. Revain made me a great offer and I couldn't refuse and have no regrets. This is a fantastic medium sized hand (not regular size or long arm but something in between) perfect for quilters!
