I bought these specifically to cut off a screw that was too big and I didn't want to file it. It seemed easy enough. Screw in the thread and compress. Nothing. Maybe I'm just getting weak from spending too much time indoors, so I do it with both hands. Does not move. Maybe I need to add some speed. Nothing yet. At this point I noticed that the inner tip of the cut had chipped off. I asked my roommate to try it, failed and just laughed at another seemingly bad Amazon purchase. I dig up an old screw of about the same size and try to cut off a small piece. As everyone notes in the reviews and YouTube videos, it was pretty easy with one hand. I was able to slowly squeeze and cut it. Update: I tried a screw again in college and the vise lost its grip. In fact I lost. Since posting this post, I've filed the screws to the correct length.
