Great after some work

Read some reviews before I bought them as they looked a bit lighter in color and weight than what I grew up with and safe enough. Most importantly, and to make them cheaper, they skipped the step that burns up all the little bits and pieces. Before you get them, I highly recommend getting a butane kitchen lighter as well, or something else that can provide a directional flame to make your job easier. If you live in a suburb, call a firefighter or other specialist for help. Everyone else can do it at the sink, on the stove, or outside. All you have to do is burn off the shards and all by sweeping the flame back and forth across each surface of the holder. If you lick close enough to the flame it should be obvious what the problem is. It will take some practice to get the speed and distance off the surface right, but the goal is to toast everything and leave the braid lightly toasted to a medium to dark blonde color. Easier said than done, so freak out and don't worry about the scorching. But if it's that unsightly the char can of course be removed with steel wool, a small wire brush or Scotch Brite, but should also wear off slowly as the holders are used, ie. The flame makes the fabric a little stronger and more resistant to moisture when done right on each surface to maximize the effect of the heat shrinking the cells, but you'll only spend about $10 on paper plate holders (or already spent). . It's obvious that we don't strive for perfection.

Pros
  • understandable even for old ones
Cons
