Many years ago I had a set like this. We ended up throwing them away because we had worn them out. Finally found at Revain. I was not at all happy with their design. If you buy them, you have to spend a lot of effort to make them usable. Get ready for lots of shards. You may need to spray them with shellac or something else or you'll get splinters on your hands or body parts rubbing against it.

These cymbal holders are too painful to hold. They are very spiky and the ends of the wood/bamboo slats are not pinned or filed so not at all suitable for children as they just dig into fingers and palms. They are also too deep to easily remove paper plates without piercing them with wood fibers. Rather than just throwing them in the trash I used them to support my computer monitor due to their round base and they fitted perfectly. Don't buy them to hold paper plates.

The product was sent in an envelope bag and 2 were broken. The third one wasn't broken but showed me the quality was poor. There was nothing on it as a seal that would help it not rupture. The woman landed with shrapnel from him. I was frustrated with the quality, I didn't even bother to return it, instead taking my anger out by burning it. Hello to the manufacturers of this product. I have a great idea for you. Stop making those pathetic, cheap, undersized, scratchy and painful wicker cymbal coasters like these. Instead, do what people really want to buy. This is a wicker plate holder. A stronger (maybe a different type of tissue so it doesn't tear), a larger, tighter wound. Best overall quality. It's lasted 20 years, my moms did it. I lost them when moving. Then double the price. I would pay that much for the ones we had before.

Read some reviews before I bought them as they looked a bit lighter in color and weight than what I grew up with and safe enough. Most importantly, and to make them cheaper, they skipped the step that burns up all the little bits and pieces. Before you get them, I highly recommend getting a butane kitchen lighter as well, or something else that can provide a directional flame to make your job easier.
