Review on Dorman 520-515 Front Left Lower Control Arm Assembly: Premium Suspension Enhancement for Nissan Models by Paul Varnado

Terrible fit and quality

This was to replace the lower ball joint on my 135,000 mile '93 Nissan pickup. Since it was pretty cheap to buy this forearm with the ball joint already installed, I thought it would be a good idea. NOT CORRECT! At least one hole was about 5mm where the torsion bar was attached. After working on my front suspension for two full weekends, I drilled a hole instead of trying to get it back online and waiting for a new part. After I installed everything and did the alignment, the cam was off by more than a degree on both sides (the top of the wheel is off the car). Since the only camera adjustment is to add shims to the upper arm, which makes my camera even worse. And there were no washers to remove. My only take away is that these forearms were made slightly shorter than my original arms. Watch out for the wrong fit with this brand. I think if you buy cheaper brands you will get inferior quality.

Pros
  • Durable construction - added coatings provide long lasting protection against rust and corrosion
Cons
  • So So
