Frustrated and Tortured

I had high hopes for the Blue Whale Massage gaming chair, but it turned out to be a huge disappointment. I bought this a few months ago to use as a work chair for permanent work at home and I already need to replace it. It was great at first - easy to assemble, comfortable, strong. The back was firm and supportive. Then after a week or two I tried reclining the backrest for the first time and when I sat back down the recline lock didn't lock the backrest fully upright at 90°... it's more of a 105° angle, so the second She leans back a few inches when you don't put weight on her back. I've tightened every screw, tried different tilting forces, etc. Nothing fixed it and it only got worse over time. That doesn't seem like such a big deal, and if you plan on using your gaming chair by reclined, then that might be fine. But for me and using it as an office chair, the lack of back support is a deal breaker. A faulty seat back lock causes my body to either arch my lower back to nestle against the seat back or use my abs to sit up unaided. I already have chronic back and neck pain. So, I've been feeling uncomfortable for months, but I'm just trying to make it work. A few weeks ago I reached a breaking point where the horrible chair support was causing me muscle tightness and pain from overusing my entire abs, groin and lower back radiating into my hip flexors. My pain got really bad despite trying to change my chair or improve my posture, it lasted for two weeks and didn't heal because I had to keep sitting in that stupid chair. Conclusion: I'm so fed up with this chair and need to buy another one. Here are my pros and cons if you're still interested in buying this chair... Pros: - Wide seat fits big boots. - The armrests adjust up and down and swivel side to side, which is great when I'm sitting cross-legged or raising one leg. - It goes down low enough for my short legs to reach the floor. - The footrest is great (like it turns out I don't really use it, but the concept is good.) - The head pad is comfortable. - It can be tilted far back. - Affordable... but you get what you pay for. Cons: - Well, it broke and caused me a lot of pain - The backrest doesn't lock at different angles. If you want to partially recline, you can either make the tension very strong and push off, or release the tension and use your abs to keep yourself from leaning all the way back. Either way, it's not very relaxing and not practical. The lumbar pillow doesn't really support...it just pushes the lower back forward. On the plus side, you can move it up and down, so I often move it to the middle or upper back instead. The massage function is a gimmick and NOT the adjustable lumbar pillow pictured - it is actually a separate, unattached pillow. that you just put where you want without protecting anything. Vibrations tend to be more of a distraction than helping with back pain. The seat and backrest are not adjustable fore and aft, which shortens the distance between the backrest and the edge of the seat. However, the seat is too long for my legs (I'm 5ft 5in, short legs and long torso).
