We need screws to solve three common problems: aluminum heads, thick flanges and gaskets, and large tubes that impede key access. 5/16 sockets are a significant improvement on the key gap problem. Wiha Tool sells a 5/16 x 1/4 box that drives all 16 screws with an extra bend in the handle. The extended bolt length provides enough thread in the aluminum to prevent thread pulling, even with thick washers and 5/16" flanges. The only remaining problem is that the extra length sometimes makes it difficult to get a bolt down a hole without the head hitting the pipe in the process. We solved this problem by carefully turning the threads on top of the screws to allow them more tilting when inserted - seems like they could be designed and made that way. However, compared to any other manifold bolts we have used, this is the best.
