I've been looking for a reliable, powerful but not overly expensive rock drill for months. Despite the slightly confusing product descriptions, this device also has a hammer-only mode. To save some money, I decided to buy a "used" model. Well, the device arrived quickly and well packaged. When I opened the container, this thing looked like it had never been touched. I bought this device to drill about 40 holes about 1" in diameter and about 6" deep in a concrete beam and was blown away by how well this thing worked. The grip's vibration dampening feature worked really well and if you do a lot of hammer work this is a great feature to keep your hands and wrists from rattling. The really big surprise was the Hammer Only mode and how well it worked. It wasn't clear when I bought the unit if it had a hammer-only mode, but I was able to remove a pile of mortar and other bonding products from the foundation and nearby joist in a matter of minutes, which would have taken a day or two with a hammer and hand chisel. Overall I would give the Bosch RH328VQC an excellent rating. I've used it myself and loaned it out to a few friends and it's impeccable and can take a beating.
