I bought this with the intention of using it on a young female Betta. My betta is still a baby but she loves it. I was a little worried about the reviews saying the filter was too strong, but I cut off a small piece of biofoam (you can find it for less than $5 ) to slow down the filter a bit and honestly it works great. Again, my tail is a BABY and swims great everywhere! It's not glass (which I already knew) so it will scratch fairly easily, but as long as you don't actively try to scratch it you'll be fine. The light is also a bit dim but that's ok as I don't want it too bright for the bettas. The filter isn't completely silent either, but that's not a big deal. Overall it's pretty good with plenty of room for baby fish.
