The buckle worked fine at first, did what it was supposed to do. Part of the canvas belt was of poor quality. You could see the black backing through the tarpaulin because it was a very loose weave. It was a deal breaker for me if the belt smelled like oil or gas. I thought the smell might go away after a few days of unpacking, but that didn't happen. Also, one of the pins in the belt buckle began to come loose, making it very difficult to tighten the belt. I threw the belt away after about a month. You get what you pay for, I'll stick with better quality slidebelt straps.
