One important point I want to hear before buying this great player, you won't be able to play most DVDs without the remote control. So if you lost the remote, no movie. Most of us just pop in a disc and hit the play button, so one more button (enter) on the player could make a big difference in usability. Said console itself is poorly constructed. The buttons are all small, black and mostly rectangular, difficult to see due to the flat dark surface and even smaller nature, while most remotes are now multi-colored and contoured for ease of use. DVD's response time to commands is just about satisfactory. The only important factor in our choice was the price and it plays DVDs perfectly and hasn't broken in a year. But with little effort and meager costs, Toshiba could have made the player much more pleasant to use. If necessary, I would spend additional [money] to alleviate these problems.
