I used this and another 3.5mm 4-pin TRRS cable to create a 3-way switch, allowing me to connect 1 headphone with mic to one of 3 computer sources (iPhone, Mac or PC) connect. . The switch block I made from it works fine. The ends of the cable are chrome-plated and fit well into MAC, PC and iPhone adapters. The point of this is that you don't have to constantly plug and unplug devices and wear out their connectors. One problem I ran into is the pin description of the colored wires. I suggest you unplug the cables you receive before using, so you can be sure. My devices were connected as follows: Pin 1 - Tip - Red (as stated) Pin 2 - Ring 1 - Black (marked white in the description) Pin 3 - Ring 2 - White (marked black in the description) Pin 4 - Sleeve - yellow (as listed) Some Pin3/Pin4 hardware switches (Android uses pin 4 for ground, Lenovo uses pin 4 for microphone) - most applications don't matter as the debounce chip internally detects and switches. I should have been consistent in what I said. Since I have both Apple and Lenovo on my system, I chose Pin4=Ground and everything works.
