Review on ⚡ ALITOVE WS2811 RGB LED Pixels Light - Addressable 12mm Diffused Digital Full Color LED Pixel Module - 12V 50 pcs for LED Screen Wall Advertising Sign Board - IP68 Waterproof by Malania Yonardy

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Takes some work - but worth it.

I bought a couple of these to use for Christmas lights on the roof of my house. I've wanted to do this for a long time and finally got around to it. I bought the 12V version based on various reviews. I found that the 5V and 12V versions use the same chip/LED/circuitry, the only difference I can see might be the internal resistor values used. What I do know for sure is that 12v strings will work down to 5v. The pixels themselves are cosmetically imperfect, but that doesn't seem to affect color reproduction or brightness. The 4 star rating is simply because the wire that connects the pixels together isn't heavy enough (22-24 AWG aluminum I think) to power the entire chain. When all LEDs are completely white (red = 255, green = 255, blue = 255) I measure 2.32A at 12V at the input to the string. At the end of the string I measure 10.5 volts. That's a 1.5 volt drop for a 12 foot string. The fact that LEDs will tolerate this voltage drop without much visible change is the only reason I didn't rate them even lower. If you buy a lot of these save yourself the headache and buy the 12v version. I will be buying more to replace the few C7 bulbs I have left. The power savings are impressive - a chain of 50 pixels draws around 800mA at 12V (2 LEDs at half the current). I definitely recommend them as I haven't had a single dead pixel from the 1500 batch and they work pretty well.

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • No mold required
