100% original sculptures!

Mattel Cretaceous Jurassic World Camp 2021 Ben and Bumpy the Ankylosaurus The newest addition to the Cretaceous Jurassic Camp human figure sets is none other than Bumpy's best friend, Ben Pinkus! When this set was first revealed I was excited to finally see Ben as a figure, but was disappointed that it came with a direct reissue of Bumpy's Attack Pack. I am happy to say that I was very wrong! Everything in this pack is 100% Brand New! Ben is perhaps the best Cretaceous Camp character right now. His resemblance is almost perfect. Strangely, since season one, he's the only character based on her character designs so far. His level of detail, both in sculpture and color, is very impressive. This is the most detailed livery of any human figure outside of the Comic-Con exclusivity! Not only does he have an on-screen wardrobe, but he also has a wrist guard, an armband, and a watch. Not only that, but the "dirt" smeared over various parts of his body and clothing. I hope we eventually get versions of other characters with these details. Of course, Ben has all of the standard articulations seen on human Jurassic figures. It also comes with two accessories, a shield and a spear. Both have great detail, but the shield lacks any paintwork. The shield was a little disappointing, or rather its functionality. Ben doesn't really have a way to hold the shield due to the position of the handle. I think it would be much better to place the grip vertically in the center of the shield instead of horizontally like it is now. The spear looks pretty good and has a decent paint job. However, the sculpture is a bit strange. Instead of the flattened triangular spearhead seen in the series, the spearhead is diamond-shaped and more three-dimensional. My only guess as to justification is to prevent warping while still being safe for children. Bumpy was the biggest surprise of this set! As mentioned, I was expecting it to be just a repackaged Bumpy Attack Pack. This new sculpt is longer, thinner, and overall better proportioned than the original Attack Pack version. The head is narrower, with smaller, sharper, and more realistic spikes. Her eyes are also much more realistic and beautifully drawn with heavy glitter. Your body is much narrower. Her armor is slightly more detailed than before. The spikes on her back are longer, sharper, and more textured than the previous version. The legs are longer and better proportioned. Rather than having the short toes and elephant feet of the original, this version has much more accurate screen feet with much longer toes. The sculpted detail is excellent and even the bottom of the foot has excellent detail. Their tail is more than twice as long as the older version, with a much larger tail club. Again, the on-screen proportions are much more realistic and accurate. The articulations remain identical to the original version. However, the longer ponytail allows for a bit more dramatic posing. The use of color is also an improvement. While the coloring itself stays the same, almost everything is applied much smoother. The color transition is also processed more realistically. For example, in the old version, the coloring of the armor just abruptly breaks off at the transition between armor and belly. In the updated Bumpy, this armor color wraps around the stitching and blends more naturally with the belly color. The old version looked like the scales on the legs were accurately painted, while in the new version the colors may have been applied with a dry brush. This makes the coloring more natural and less varnish-like. In the original version, the tail butt was completely unpainted. Luckily this updated bumpy fixes that. The club is drawn beautifully on this! The only area where I feel the old version wins is in the crown color. In the old version, part of the light coloring of the body was visible between the cracks in the armor, but this detail is no longer there. The only real disappointment I have is the shield feature. Everything else is just great in my humble opinion. This is an amazing pack and my favorite human pack yet!
