Sturdy material. for my opinion

We converted a grain bin into an art studio and needed a way to shade the back door from the sun in the afternoon. We chose two sun sails and slightly overlapped them. We used hardware and cables from the hardware store and anchored them to 4x4 posts set in concrete. Both sunsails are sturdy, well sewn. They add a splash of color, provide shade and help keep the rain away from the door. The built in curve fit the curve of our building. We chose a 12x12 shade and a 10x10 shade. Standard sizes like that are much less expensive that custom sizes. We had to do so adjustments to find just the right angle and spacing so the fabric would be tight, but the end result is great. Thinking about getting another one to put over a deck.

Pros
  • Recommended Install at a 20-40 degree angle with maximum tension to allow rain runoff. If not, rain water may accumulate in the shade like a bag, which can cause the material to stretch. You need to tighten the shade, or set it at a steeper angle. Also make sure that there is no place where water could accumulate that would prevent water running straight off.
Cons
  • May not hold up well against strong winds or storms

Loved when it came. WAS perfect. Until 8 mths in and totally faded and company wouldn’t do anything about it. Turned from red to brown.
