This is normal. I'm used to Prismacolor so maybe I'm a bit biased and have high expectations. The lids are difficult to remove and some don't stay on at all. Sometimes when you open them they can splatter, so remember not to open the marker on your work. The color choice is good, I will add that they are double sided, but brown for example has a completely different shade of brown for the wide side and the thin side. Love how they work, great for calligraphy. I'm just a little annoyed with their design and the caps fall off/don't remove easily. I'll probably end up buying a box of Prismacolor markers as I prefer them and they are high quality. and easy to use.
