it's strong Maybe a little more learned than me.

I needed a solution to keep my wife's garden supplies and above ground pool accessories from being tossed around our yard every time the wind blows. I thought I wanted a vertical barn, but all the wood ones were overpriced kits that required a lot of work, and all the plastic ones had molded plastic hinges. While plastic hinges may be acceptable in some circumstances, my circumstances include lots of direct sunlight as well as heavy snow loads. I realized that plastic hinges would quickly warp and fail, so I settled on deck boxes. For some reason, deck boxes tend to have metal hinge mechanisms. I have to say this one is worth the money but be careful with the build. it's strong Maybe a little more research than expected. Personally, I can drive sharp metal screws into high-density plastic with little effort, but I'm a dude, not old. Consider drilling pilot holes first, but if you do, be careful and don't over-drill. However, I am quite impressed with the durability of the lock bolt. With a decent lock, a thief would have to be surprisingly determined to pick this thing up. I just want the metal nuts to be easier to thread onto the bolts. There are several of them and this is a real fight. You'll need two wrenches - no, a wrench and pliers won't do - and after that, wait for the metal shavings. This can be a tight fit for wrenches, so I found it useful to thread the nut onto the whole bolt first and then use that in the build. But caution is also required here. I overtightened the nut almost to the point of breaking because I was so used to the difficulty of tightening that I didn't realize I was plunging the head of the bolt right into the high-density plastic. The rest of the hydraulic joints are awesome! Nice solid metal construction that helps open the lid and keep it open. My only concern is that those metal hydraulic hinges essentially have plastic connector heads on either end that attach them to the box and lid. I can't tell if it's going to break first or if honoring the overtightened nut on the pivot bolt I mentioned earlier. In any case, I suspect that this box will last me for some time, despite adverse conditions, including heavy rain with wind. One of the reasons I chose this particular deck box was that it has a raised lip at the opening that the lip of the lid wraps around when closed. Every other box I found had a flat lid on top of the box's clasp. It definitely keeps things dry. I'm actually considering drilling a few holes in the back for ventilation, but that seems like a crime because it's a really high-quality, high-density piece of plastic. Let's wait and see if the moisture is a problem according to the woman's instructions.
