A few years ago I bought an inexpensive Dahle cutting mat. Now I know why it was so cheap. It all started out fine but although it was said to heal itself it didn't and the tip started peeling off! I bought this and I like it very much! You can see the healing process in action. The ports stick out, but as another reviewer said, duct tape will do. I wish I had saved money on my other rug and went straight for this one. Update: I got it last April and it's now December. The carpet is still strong. He keeps healing. The masking tape wasn't holding the two pieces together so I took double sided rubber tape and used that which also allows it to stay on my desk. I've found that spritzing it with water after each use to keep it hydrated also helps.
