I bought two of these bug catchers. One had a defective battery holder: there was no continuity between the battery contacts and one of the spring-loaded contacts that engage the locking device. I also used two sets of batteries when testing the device. After two nights between 7:30 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., not a single dead bug was destroyed? At least one fly buzzed in my kitchen and buzzed around my phone screen as I lay in bed in the dark. Is the fly still buzzing? Consider trying out Bugassault with a lazier following. Update: The light attracts very small bugs, but houseflies are not attracted to the light at all. Didn't catch a single housefly?
