I was skeptical that air might leak out if you squeeze them or something. But it actually seems like it's putting a lot of pressure on the entire system. If you press and hold it, the metal plunger will stay extended as long as you want until you release it. It also has a good draw so there shouldn't be any trouble activating the shutter. The only problem is that it has a strong "cheap rubber" smell. You may want to leave it outside or in the garage for a while to blow it out. Or simply stow it in the zipped pocket when not in use.
