I'd gained quite a bit of weight this year, so the idea of taking my family to the beach for Thanksgiving sounded great until I realized we were all going to be in swimsuits. I'm 5'8", 186 lbs. I bought a large one. It was nice and roomy, but also flattering. I could enjoy the beach all day and be able to quickly slip on this blanket to go anywhere without embarrassment Highly recommended. The material is viscose so it creases but you are at the beach. Who cares!
