It didn't help the amount of algae that was building up in my aquarium. This was a new problem and I got them hoping to get through it before it got out of hand. It didn't phase out the algae that were already there and it only got worse after use. So I just took everything out of the tank and wiped it down with a rag, wiped the inside of the glass with a rag and used a suction cup to clean the stones. I changed the filter and added water to replace the few gallons that spilled with my suction cup cleaning device. The water cleared up immediately. I just change the filter more often and use the mud to clean the stones every few weeks.
