Best Defense Against Brown Algae

My 100 gallon freshwater tank was infested with brown algae. No live plants, just rocks and plastic plants. I used 3 tablets and within 24 hours the tank was crystal clear and I haven't had any seaweed problems since. The purple film stayed on the water surface for about two days but came off. I now use one tablet in water every two weeks and after each cleanse. Helps with green algae, but does not replace aquarium cleaning. Note for Turtle Tanks: Remove the turtle from the tank or your turtle…

amazing simple product, it works!

I am delighted with this product. I've had a constant struggle with seaweed in several tanks, including throwing out the last one because I couldn't get ahead of the seaweed and was killing all the fish trying. Two months ago [4/6] I put two tablets in my 20 gallon tank half an hour apart. [take the charcoal out for a day] in two days the algae will be gone and WILL NOT RETURN AT ALL! I still don't have the algae eater. but I wonder what he would find to eat if I did. UPDATE 22/06 This week two

Not good for aquarium cleaners

It didn't help the amount of algae that was building up in my aquarium. This was a new problem and I got them hoping to get through it before it got out of hand. It didn't phase out the algae that were already there and it only got worse after use. So I just took everything out of the tank and wiped it down with a rag, wiped the inside of the glass with a rag and used a suction cup to clean the stones. I changed the filter and added water to replace the few gallons that spilled with my suction…

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Not as thick as other products

Fiction! No more green algae.

I have had a 55 gallon freshwater public aquarium for many years and have always struggled with green algae on glass, artificial plants and gravel. I cleaned, changed the water weekly, turned the lights off most of the day and had 3 good filters but always struggled with a stubborn green film. Finally tried these tetra algae tablets (put 4 directly into the aquarium). Wow! Not only did all the algae disappear, but the water became crystal clear. I have never had such clean water in 15 years…

Complete Austin Review

This material is really great to help me clean my tank. I've listed the pros and cons below to help you decide. Pros 1) It's cheap 2) It keeps my tank looking good and gets rid of algae 3) It doesn't change the color of my water Cons 1) I don't like having to remove the carbon filter 2) I wish there were more tablets in the Box. This box holds 80 gallons of water. It just depends on how much you need. 3) I'm not 100% sure how safe this product is for fish. This may seem ridiculous as my fish…

Two months and two boxes, 0% improvement

I have had aquariums for over 20 years and have never had so much trouble getting rid of algae blooms in my tank. I normally use the Algaefix Algae Control Aquarium Solution API (which was out of stock at Revain) but due to COVID I had to order what is available at Revain for fast delivery. I had high hopes for this product based on the high reviews. It is very easy to dose, just 1 tablet per 10 gallons of water. Remove the activated carbon filter during use. There are no other directions that…

Worked for our aquarium!

We have a well established 3.5 year old 10 gallon fresh water tank. We didn't have an algae problem until we went on vacation and I started using these food tablets. So even though I've cleaned the tank thoroughly every few months, the brownish-orange algae keep coming back. I didn't want to use chemicals that could harm the fish, but I was desperate - who wants to look at a dirty aquarium (note that the water was clear, these algae formed on the walls of the aquarium and on the bottom)…

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Vulgarity

It may be delayed - but it works!

Bought this when I had a heavy algal bloom that was unrelated (water changes, environmental changes, light blocking, light dimming, etc.). I bought it as a last resort because it was cheap and I had nothing to lose. There really isn't. Instructions for proper use alongside quantity. I was concerned about just tossing the pills in my tank (I didn't want my fish pecking at them when they hiss) so I saw reviews saying to take a cup of water out of the tank, the pills put it in and let it dissolve…
