I have no experience with dishwashers but after reading the reviews on here I thought it might be worth a try before buying a new dishwasher. My old 1996 GE dishwasher was in perfect condition except for the pump. My dishwasher has been repaired before so I don't know if the existing pump was original before 1996 or not. I turned off the power and water, got out the dishwasher and laid it on its side and it was obvious that this new pump was an exact replacement for the failed pump on my old appliance. Replacing the old pump with a new one did not take much time. I didn't have to use any of the various adapters that came with the new pump. My unit had multiple screw terminals and a finger clamp in the drain line. I was a little hasty and forgot to firmly press the finger clip. Of course, when I first started a new pump, the drain line came loose and water went everywhere! All my fault. I was able to get under the dishwasher while it was still in place and use pliers to properly secure this clip - the new pump works great. My dishwasher is like new, it was worth it. My dishwasher has a custom wood top, so the look of my kitchen shouldn't have changed.
