My need to save money and fix my cruise control switches took me out of my comfort zone and pushed me to do it myself. I purchased the SW5928 from Revain after visiting a Ford dealership and providing the appropriate part number and roughly verifying that it would fit my 2001 Ford Ranger XLT. Since my wiring wasn't a problem, all I had to do was replace the sheathing. After reading and researching the information on the internet, here's what I did: I checked this site for tips and recommendations and followed them to the end. The only real problem I had was removing the wiring from the connector housing. They can be a bit tricky and a pair of needle nose pliers finally seems to have done the job. A firm grip is required to avoid damaging the housing of the original cable connector. Give him a good strong pull and he really gives in. I connected them to my new case and returned everything as I took it apart. Did a freeway test drive and YES it worked. Thanks to everyone who posted their suggestions and advice. I just saved some money on both the price of the part and the cost of the repair. YIPPI YAHOO. Thank you thank you thank you!
