Good vise for the price. Do yourself a favor, take it apart and replace the light oil with a good quality lubricant on the screw and guides and lubricate the connection between the mounting flange and the base. It is also much easier to drill for mounting when the base is removed. Useful advice. If you ever plan to flip or swap out the jaw inserts, remove them immediately. The button screws appear to have been gorilla tightened and have a sticky substance to secure the threads. One was so tight that I unscrewed the socket wrench and had to drill out. It appears to be a 5/16-18 thread, so it would be helpful to have a tap of that size on hand to clean dirt off the threads. The size of the hexagon appears to be 3/16, but it's very small and the metal is quite soft. Inserting a 5mm drill provides the best bite to apply the torque needed to loosen the screws. A hex head is easier to control than an L wrench. I will most likely replace these mounts with something better. If you don't do the above, I doubt you'll ever loosen those jaw inserts years later with rust, metal shavings and dirt in the mix. They will then drill out the heads and possibly the bolts and ram all the holes again. Not funny. It is advisable to lubricate the threads with a small amount of light oil or anti-seize lubricant before assembly. I also put some washers under the base retaining screws to keep them from cutting into the cast iron over time. I plan to use this vise for a long time. If it weren't for the ridiculously overtightened jaw insert screws, I'd give them five stars.
