Update May 2018 - I've added a metal screen found in a DIY store which is permanently attached to the outside of the unit to keep moths and larger insects from dying and seems to help About 95% of the time, some moths and flying ants still get through. I've killed so many random bugs that I wanted to make sure I found a way not to do this. i want it to kill mosquitoes and flies i dont want to kill all the bugs in the garden and it really attracts with so many bugs it got too much cleaning was fun too with so many bugs. For example, I want to keep large insects that don't bother me for the bats to eat, and then kill the mice, and so on. Also, one of the lightbulbs (there are three) stopped working the first summer trying to find a replacement at the time. — Original Review 2018 — Absolutely Amazing! I thought about it for a few days and did tons of online research and product comparisons. I'm so glad I bought this! I leave it on all the time and use a mosquito and fly attractant that I attach to it. It's looking like an insect apocalypse in my backyard, no kidding! I saw all kinds of flying bugs including flies, mosquitoes, moths, ladybugs etc. For a couple of nights I thought they were out of order because they sounded like constant lightning strikes and as I got closer it was because it was so many were . there were a lot of mosquitoes around him, they all wanted to get near him and they died by the dozens at the same time! I cleaned it after a week and the tray was half full, the protective cage was very full but I was amazed that it only took 24 hours for the protective cage to be ready for cleaning again today! There was still enough space on the lower tray. We had a very hot and muggy day so I don't know if it affected the insects but I am attaching a video of the net's insect saturation anyway, you will need to clean this often depending on the insect population in your area. I have 6 acres, a pond and streams in a wooded area, all my neighbors have the same yards just to give you an idea of my surroundings and the number of mosquitoes/bugs and maintenance required if you buy this unit. Highly recommended! I've only had it for a few weeks but given the mortality rate I'm hoping it will help me significantly reduce the mosquito and fly population in my area.
