Review on πŸš— BOSS BVNV9384RC Car GPS Navigation & DVD Player: Double Din, Bluetooth, 6.2" LCD Touchscreen, MP3 CD DVD USB SD, AM FM Radio by David Sokolov

Not recommended: BVNV9384RC

When I was looking for a dual din with GPS, BOSS popped up as Choice Revain. I looked through the reviews and ordered the BVNV9384RC model: sound, Bluetooth, built-in GPS and a rear camera. Here is my feedback on each feature of the BOSS block: - Installation: not complicated. Using a separate wiring harness for my car (Toyota), I just matched the color of the wires and connected them. The radio antenna can be connected directly. The GPS antenna is also easy to install. A little work to install a reversing camera typical of any type of reversing camera. - Sound quality: average. Not impressive, not that bad. Just like any average car audio system. - Touchscreen: The touchscreen works, the response is good. However, the brightness is fixed, and when I'm driving at maximum brightness during the day, I can barely see anything on the screen. Technically, this device is useless if you're driving when the sun is out. The only way to change the radio station is to touch the little icons on the screen BUT I can't see them during the day. Bluetooth: works and pairs quickly with my phone. I also tested making a call, receiving a call, and streaming music. Everything worked as expected. Nothing special. Reversing camera: The supplied cable is obviously too short (about a meter). My car is a RAV4, not a big car - GPS: Technically it's a complete joke. Here's what I tested and it helped me come to conclusions: Switch to GPS: I pressed the NAVI button and the device started launching the .exe navigation file (OS most likely Windows CE). At that moment the radio I was listening to stopped. The device cannot multitask. GPS initialization: GPS always started with the default location Washington DC. After receiving the GPS signal, the correct location will be displayed. The device has no memory to remember the last digit of the address. Navigation: Does this device have any navigation at all? I tried entering an address and then clicking 'Navigate'. Keeps writing "cannot find route". Then I have to go to "Settings" to change "Route Options" to enable "Adventure". Then I could start navigating. What I got was completely a joke. no instructions at all. Just a map, no turn-by-turn directions. I'm not sure why the manufacturer calls it "Navigation" at all. Complete failure of this function. Conclusion: - If you want to upgrade the sound with Bluetooth, some single din devices are the best choice. - If you also need rear view camera, you'd better choose mirror dish camera. - If you want a double noise with GPS, my recommendation is that using Google Map on your phone with a phone holder will not disappoint.
