Review on ❄️ Premium Heavy Duty Winter Top Air Conditioner Cover for Outdoor Units by Jeacent by Ronald Dimatulac

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Seems nice - Hooks could cause paint damage over time

I just installed this cover so my comments/rating do not cover durability or long-term usability issues. In the end I purchased this cover instead of other covers because of how well it fits my AC unit. I wanted to mount the cover square with my AC unit (corners of the cover at the corners of my AC unit) and the size/cut of this cover fit perfectly. Other 28"x28" covers I looked at had larger corners cut out meaning that they wouldn't fit on my 26"x26" AC unit properly. Published measurements regarding the corners of this cover would have been appreciated. Because of the lack of these measurements i wound up having to do the math myself from one of the product images. My biggest concern about this product is the steel hooks that are included with it. I worry that they could wear/chip away paint on the AC unit. I wound up buying a foot of thin vinyl tubing and running the ends of the hooks through the tubing so I don't have to worry about damaging the paint. I think that having this included in the product would be good thing. I prefer metal hooks to plastic ones (plastic could have UV resistance issues) but the issue of scratching off paint is something that could be addressed. The cover also has a smell to it like many others have mentioned which I don't think is much of a concern given that it to be used outside. That said, I still made sure to wash my hands after handling it.I'm making some assumptions regarding what side of the cover is the top and what side of the cover is the bottom. A sticker or some indication on/with the product would have been helpful. I doubt many people want a dark green AC unit cover so I'm assuming that is the bottom. I doubt both sides of the cover are equally as UV resistant and they definitely aren't the same color so knowing which side is the top side is important. The assumed top of the cover is a white and black pattern which gives a dark gray appearance. The assumed bottom of the cover is dark green. The assumed bottom of the cover has a smooth PVC feel to it and the assumed top of the cover has a canvas feel to it. I personally feel that the smooth PVC material on the assumed bottom could cause stagnant water to be stuck sandwiched between the cover and top surfaces of the AC unit (and eventually cause rust) but it is hard for me to know if this will actually be an issue at this point.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • The cover may not be effective against temperature fluctuations
