I was hoping these would be good binoculars otherwise I would not have ordered them but it was better than expected! Oh, you wouldn't mistake them for a $500 Nikon or a $1000 Leica, but for the price, they're great value. First, they are well made. The fit and finish is great, and all adjustments work smoothly and easily, making it easy to stay on target even when focusing either bilaterally with the center dial or with the right-side adjustable "fine tune" eyepiece focus. They just have a general sense of quality that's hard to quantify, but you'll know when you come across it. The large lens and good optical quality of the multi-coating make it good in low light, which is a definite improvement over my compact binoculars, although you pay a price for the size and weight gain. However, they are by no means excessively heavy, especially for their size and magnification. The soft case and lens caps (included) are functional and good, but I'll probably look for a nicer, softer strap. They are excellent for bird watching here, whether in my garden, by the lake or in the surrounding woods. Haven't used them for live sports yet but I don't see any reason why they shouldn't work. I don't think they will last very long if well cared for. I recommend them for both the quality and the price, which I think is a steal.
