Great Laser Set at a Reasonable Price

After years of working on interior and exterior projects using bubble levels and mason's lines, I finally buckled, researched and bought it. Reasonable price compared to rotary lasers. Wasted too much time on the old fashioned spirit level in the bathroom of a 1900 house. Also used it to test the slope on another house with drainage problems. It has already paid for itself in terms of time savings and accuracy throughout the day after receiving it in the mail. I look forward to other remodeling, leveling projects, tiling, fences, etc. on my list of cons. For those not tinkering themselves and doing a bit of commercial work I would recommend this DW088LR and definitely the cheaper DW088K. They are both red lasers and pulsed. But the biggest difference is the pendulum lock. When it's off, it snaps into place so it doesn't jump. The DW088LR also comes with a bracket, board and goggles and is compatible with Dewalt's 12v battery cartridge (unfortunately these are only used in a few power tools so your 18v or 24v batteries won't are interchangeable). The 4AA battery has sufficed for all-day use so far, probably because I've turned it off for cutting, math, etc. The hard case is perfect, it also houses the DW0892 laser detector with a bracket that I bought separately for outdoor use (there is room for a charger if I buy a 12V battery later). I also bought a non-dewalt rod at a better price, just make sure it has both 12in/ft and tenths/ft markings so you don't limit yourself. Didn't want to pay for a green laser, and so far using red closer to twilight has worked visually from the outside. I played with it in bright sunlight where neither green nor red was visible and it worked as intended with a laser detector. Forgo a rotating laser, but the device still rotates on the mount when needed. When the pendulum is shaken, it quickly returns to its original position. The thickness of the red line is thin enough for close-up shots and thick enough for distant vision. I consider this a professional tool at a DIY price.
