UPDATE 4/13/19: I had to go back to this review and add a half star. The brain that Dyson has added to this vacuum, along with more battery capacity, has greatly increased the vacuuming time I get from charging. I leave it on "Auto" and that's a heck of a lot more than double the square feet I clean in a single charge. I just let the vacuum adjust its power as I move from carpet to hardwood to stone. Well done Dyson. For about a year I've been using a V8 Animal that I bought on sale at my local warehouse for about $325. And i really like it. This is by far the best cordless vacuum cleaner I've ever had. But I can only clean half of my house before it dies. So I wanted to get another wireless device so I could have one on top and one on the bottom. Enter Animal V11. And the V11 is another outstanding cordless vacuum cleaner. Compared to V8, V11 is more powerful and lasts a little longer on a single charge. And to be honest, I was expecting the new model to be unveiled. How does the V11 really differ from the V8? The best improvement is the "Auto" setting. The V11 adapts the suction power to the floor it is used on. On carpets, it increases suction for a deeper clean. I don't know how he does it, but he does it well. I found it cleaned all surfaces easily and well. With the V8 I have to put the switch on low when I get to the gel mats in the kitchen or it sucks. The brush head sank so much that the brushes stopped turning. And with the V8, I always used high speed on hardwoods because it picked up much better than low, but drained the battery very quickly. The V11's extra power adds size and weight over the vacuum, but not by much. The battery is slightly larger, the motor is slightly larger and the filter is larger. Both V8 and V11 can be a bit fatiguing for high vacuum. Like the V8, the V11 filter is easy to clean. Kudos to Dyson for using nozzles with the same connectors. Nozzles are interchangeable. But the lack of two attachments with V11 added 4 stars to me. The Animal V8 came with a soft dust brush and most importantly, a 90 degree adjustable crank tube. This hose makes a world of difference because it's really the only way to avoid climbing stairs to vacuum the top of a canopy or other tall, flat object. One thing I really like about the wireless concept is that I can stand on the floor and vacuum the top of my curtains and you have to keep your elbow at a 90 degree angle to do it. At that price, Dyson should add these two attachments. Thank goodness the nozzles are interchangeable. In the end, the V11 wins in terms of ease of use, performance and battery life. At $200 more than the V8, these improvements come at a price. So what keeps the V11 from 5 stars is the lack of attachments and the price.
