Review on 8X LED Magnifying Glass With Light And Clamp, 5 Color Modes Stepless Dimmable Illumination, Flexible Gooseneck Stand For Craft Reading Painting Hobby Close Work by Brian Hrdlicka

Good light, but with a few issues

Bought this light for seeing tiny paint by number areas. The light is great - love the different "temperatures" of light, and the dimmer is great for preventing eye fatigue from too bright a light. Three big complaints: 1. The lamp base that sits on the table doesn't weigh nearly enough to counterbalance the light and magnifier so it falls over when you bend the neck close to your work surface which means I have to use the clamp. Obviously the clamp is less mobile and therefore less convenient.2. The magnifier has to be pretty close to what you're working on in order to magnify rather than distort what youre trying to see, so sometimes it has to be so close it gets in the way of my brushes. Definitely put it on the opposite side of the had you are using, ie. on your left if you're using your right hand.3. The light doesn't stay rotated very well, meaning that if you bend the neck over and then try to turn the light towards a vertical surface like an easel, the light wants to keep rotating to face down instead of away from you if that makes sense. It will sort of stay, but it's not great.I have also used this for removing splinters from my kids hand and it worked great for that, but again, the magnifier has to be pretty close to what you're working on and so kind of gets in the way. Though it's not perfect it's also not bad, does what I need and was a great price.
